Self-Portraits Reinterpretations

Many of these artists never met each other, often creating their masterpieces years apart. In most cases, their backgrounds differed, as did their styles of painting. These artists do, however, share one significant similarity: at one point or another during my evolution, they have inspired me and influenced my work.

This is my tribute to them. The self-portrait has always been, for a wide spectrum of reasons, an important method for painters. The self-portrait causes us to wonder: What was in the painter’s mind as he used himself as model? His wrinkles? His art? His money, or lack of it? Himself?
